Constellations

Video Photo Info
Constelaciones is a permanent public art installation that lines the vaulted ceilings of two new pedestrian bridges that cross the Rio Manzanares in Madrid. Both pieces are made with more than 6.5 million tiles of recycled glass with an array of 260 different colors, forming a photo-mosaic depicting community members from the neighborhoods now being joined for the first time by these bridges. The participants were photographed as if floating in mid-air. The artwork alludes to the weightless representation of the human body in religious frescoes and mosaics of the past.
